Listed below are a few of my favorite products I’ve found on my journey to lean. You can also CLICK HERE to view new food and drink reviews as I come across them. And, if you SUBSCRIBE you will be notified as I review new products or add new tips.

Powder Shakes

Please be careful with the calorie counts (plus sugar/carbs) for the protein shakes, some are used for bulking (adding weight for people building muscle). Also, trial the shakes with various base liquids. IF the shake manufacturer has a pre-mixed version, I would suggest trying that first. That will generally be the manufacturer’s best attempt at their suggested flavor. If not, no biggie, go ahead and grab the powdered version. When mixing powdered shakes, try it with water, milk, soy milk, coconut milk, almond milk, cashew milk – whatever else you might like. Each base liquid gives your shake a different flavor and texture.

Chike Protein Shake  – FOUR coffee flavors, plus vanilla, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry

Vega Protein Powder – Chocolate, Vanilla, Berry – note, NOT Vega One – you might like Vega One, but I would suggest trying Vega Protein & Greens FIRST.

Bars

Please be careful with the calorie counts (plus sugar/carbs) on bars labeled “protein bars”, some are used for bulking (adding weight for people building muscle). Quest Protein Bars are probably one of the most, if not THE most, hardcore protein bars out there. They are rather dense, but if you pop them in the microwave for about 15 seconds, it helps a lot. However, they were one of the first bars I found on my journey. And, they are good – but just make sure you are in the “protein bar” and not “candy bar” mindset when you begin eating protein bars – they are not candy bars. I say all this to say, when comparing various bars out there, use the nutrition label from a quest bar as your base and go from there. Compare a quest to a snickers and you’ll quickly see what I’m talking about. Many of these bars are available at many stores – including convenience store when you’re on the go.

Frozen Dinners

I’m very busy at work usually, so frozen dinners are a super easy way for me to grab lunch while still watching my caloric intake and using portion control. Let’s be honest, I’m kind of lazy too, so frozen dinners at home are a quick way to grab a bite as well. – not to mention, they are usually lower cost than a drive through.

Real Good Foods – Pizza/Enchiladas – Find their website locator to find a retailer near you to try them. I personally buy them direct from their site, they ship in an insulated container with dry ice. The pizzas use a chicken Parmesan “crust” so they are a little “different”, but still good. The enchiladas are freaking AWESOME!! use code “Eric10” to save 10%
